Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter will share new music next year

The remaining members of The Specials have announced a brand new album for next year, titled ‘Encore’.

Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter will release the new LP on February 1, 2019. Drummer Kenrick Rowe and Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock, who has toured with the band a few times, will also feature on the record.

As well as new material, it’ll also include covers of The Equals’ ‘Black Skinned Blue-Eyed Boys’ and a cover of ‘Blam Blam Fever’. The album will also include a second disc featuring ‘The Best of The Specials Live’. You can see the tracklist for ‘Encore’ below.

In addition to the new album, the band will also announce a string of tour dates next Tuesday (October 30).

Last month, a man was arrested on suspicion of murdering the grandson of The Specials’ former singer Neville Staple.

Fidel Glasgow, 21, was fatally stabbed during an altercation in the early hours of September 1, near Coventry’s Club M nightclub. He died in hospital 12 hours later.

West Midlands Police have confirmed a 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday and is being questioned in relation to Glasgow’s death. “We have not let up our search for Fidel’s killer and this is significant progress in our investigation,” Detective Inspector Harry Harrison said.

“However, this does not mean that we no longer need witnesses to come forward,” he added. “I am still appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. It may be the crucial bit of the jigsaw that we need.

“Fidel’s family have been fully updated with the latest development and continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

Staple spoke at a press conference last week where he and his family appealed to members of the public to come forward for information on Glasgow’s murder. “There’s a lot of people who tried to help and step in, so those are the kind of people we need to come forward and say what they saw, and what they did to help,” he reportedly said.
